Unforgettable: in the Carrera Panamericana 1954, Hans Herrmann fought his way through to an outstanding third place against much stronger opponents
Light but reliable: the Porsche 550 sports cars felt perfectly at home at the Le Mans 24-hour race. This photograph dates back to 1954.
Federal Minister of Finance Hans Eichel (r.) presents the first edition of the charity stamps 2003/2004 to Federal President Johannes Rau on October 2 at Schloss Bellevue in Berlin. The picture shows both politicians with an enlarged 55-cent stamp in front of a Porsche 356 B.
Amongst other features, the Advanced Off-road Technology pack includes disengageable anti-roll bars at the front and rear axles. They are hydraulically controlled by a control unit in the rear of the vehicle.
Cylinders hydraulically opened: anti-roll bars disengaged
Cylinders closed: the wheel articulation values increase by 60 millimetres at the front and rear axles
The control unit sends information to the hydraulic pump, which causes the cylinder to open and close and thus engages and disengages the anti-roll bars
