Formula I world championship victories in 1984, 1985 and 1986 With the TAG turbo engines designed and maintained by Porsche, the McLaren TAG team won the formula I world championship in 1984, 1985 and 1986. In 1984, Niki Lauda took the world championship title and his team colleague Alain Prost was runner-up.
